Morgan Freeman told CBS one main reason he accepted the role was a chance to work with Tom Cruise.

"That was one great, great draw for the project," Freeman told CBS News. "I've been wanting to work with him since I don't know when. I'm a big fan of his. A big, big fan."
Freeman has a lot of fans, too, including this writer, who saw him receive so many Lifetime achievement awards, Cruise was probably saying the same about working with Freeman.
The cast is awesome, too. We'll see if fans slip into Oblivion this weekend, too.

PERI Software CEO Sarav Periasamy to speak to National Assn. of Utility Commissioners Conference on Smart Grids

“Smart grid and smart metering introduce access control, network and application security concerns at and beyond the meter,” explained Sarav Periasamy, PERI Software, who is scheduled to speak at the conference
Sacramento, CA –Utilities need to “go beyond simple ’smart meter’ initiatives to the process of using less energy” according to a study released by the nonprofit American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE). PERI Software Solutions Inc., a global business solutions company agrees. PERI is participating in the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners Conference in SacramentoJuly 18 – 21, 2010, at the SacramentoConvention Center. “Research shows that 60 percent of the electricity generated in this country is lost to inefficiencies, and the fact that smart grid technology is green and substantially enhances grid efficiency through improved outage detection and response helps utility customers feel good about saving energy,” said Sarav Periasamy, president and CEO, PERI Software. Periasamy is scheduled to speak at 11:15 AM, Sunday, July 18th, on “Cost Effective Solutions for Smart Grid.”
"Smart Grid technology transforms the way utilities can deliver power to customers, but we need to educate and explain in layman’s terms just how it works,” he said.
PERI Software is the only certified minority business enterprise in the U.S. with an end-to-end smart grid solution. The company, based in Newark, NJ, can provide both its own smart grid advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) and smart meter technology and software platform or PERI can act as systems integrators on any smart grid platform, regardless of technology.
Just when we thought we had heard it all on Television, along comes a family of celebs that may have cross the lined in describe the thoughts verbally and visually.
First Lindsay Lohan gets grilled in court, cries when she hears a mandatory 90 days in jail for breaking probation not once, but twice. And as the TV news anchors would say.. NOW THIS...
After Lindsay Lohan is caught with F--K U vividly painted on her fingernails and labeled the judge who threw the book at her a "F------G King Bitch", her Pops popped a real eye opener live on Fox News.
The live interview was not blipped on "Studio B" with Fox TV News Anchor Shepard smith when Michael Lohan blurted out "F- -K" live on the air when Smith had asked him why he was going on television and partying the same night his daughter had been sent to the slammer for three months.
"I don't think a lot of parents understand the way you conduct yourself," Smith said. Referring to pictures of Lohan smiling at a restaurant, he said, "I think a lot of [people] are probably saying, you know, if you'd done half this much to try to help your daughter..."
Seconds later Daddy Lohan let loose on the family network news channel, but apologized after
the F bomb slipped through the censors at Fox.
How do you feel about this interview - who went too far - TV Broadcaster Smith or Michael Lohan?

After reading all the bad reviews on Mr Top GunTom Cruise's and Cameron Diaz's new movie, I was headed to see a different flick, but it was packed, so I opted for the new action movie. Yea, everyone gave it mixed reviews, but I think that's because they were looking for missing impossible and older movies of Cameron Diaz.
Diaz was just as sexy in this movie as she was in all her movies a decade ago, and I didn't realize how natural, and how much drama she could bring to the stage until I saw in her action, and not just on a motorcycle. She played the big, dumb sexy blond, but she also revealed why like her. Cameron Diaz
The last time I saw "Cameron Michelle Diaz" in There's Something About Mary, I knew she was going to be a silver screen hottie. By the way Ben Stillera plays "Ted" and Matt Dillon were in that movie in 1998, where a man gets a chance to meet up with his dream girl from high school, even though his date with her then was a complete disaster. Ted was a high school geek, who was going to the prom with one of the most popular girls in the school.
The prom date never happened, because Ted had a very unusual accident. 13 years later he realizes he's still in love with Mary, so he hires a private investigator to track her down. The investigator discovers he too may be in love with Mary, so he gives Ted some false info to keep Ted away from Cameron Diaz.
I thought the film was great, lots of action, hilarious comedy and some pretty bold stunts in the movie for a Diaz. She was just as sexy as she was 10 years ago, and Cruise appear fit, and just as cocky, but just as fast as he was in mission Impossible.
I went in with an open mind and only seeing a partiable trailer so I was not prepared for the action nor the slapstick humorous drama scenes. What I really loved was the venue. It was filmed on location in Europe, and wow the places that were destroyed and the scenes were awesome.
It's not a perfect film, but hey I'm not a perfect critic or movie goer. I usually go to watch and be entertained like everyone else. If we looked at every film from a technical perspective, we wouldn't enjoy it. It would be called a theater assignment not a movie, right?
Don't get me wrong I love both of these actors in feature and action movies, they just happen to be blockbuster, or is it just me. Maybe it's the studios like Warner Bros or Directors of blockbuster movies that get them young, early and inexpensive before their careers take off and make big bucks.
Okay, you're right Cruise and Diaz also were in many big movies, too, so let's just enjoy them for what they are, entertainment and stop being so critical at the movies. It's not an easy job acting, directing and producing. Everything can go wrong and does go wrong. More later. MAYO PR - "We don't guarantee media, we just get it!" ™

The Late Night Talk Show Landscape on Cable is a Welcome addition say TV Talk and Magazine Bookers at media workshop
By George S. Mc Quade III West Coast Bureau Chief
“The landscape of television is changing so much, especially with Conan O’Brien now going to Turner Broadcasting System (TBS),” said Siobhan Schanda, talent producer, “Chelsea Lately,” at a recent Entertainment Publicists Professional media workshop on TV talk and magazine shows at the International Cinematographer (ICG) Union Local 600 in Hollywood (4-15-10).
“You know now that we are playing with the big boys, they’re paying attention to us and we’re part of that mix now, said Schanda. “It is interesting so see how the late night shows landscape is changing. Our demographics are young female and young people across the board (18+). We have the audience that goes to films the first week of release. We have the audience that buys music and books. You might think its great being on another late night network show, but late night is changing and the habits are changing,” She said.
Chelsea Lately is an American late night comedy talk show hosted by comedian Chelsea Handler on E! The show debuted on July 16, 2007, and is produced by Handler's production company, Borderline Amazing Productions. It is taped in Los Angeles, California, and it has been extended through 2012. In American markets the show airs at 11:00 p.m. but is recorded at 3:30 p.m. the same day. Handler was previously the host of The Chelsea Handler Show, a short-lived sketch comedy show that also aired on E!
Publicists getting on the show get a wide ranch of exposure, “as our show airs at 11:00 p.m. and 2:30 a.m. and in a two to three week cycle there are additional airings,” said Schanda.
“I’m thrilled that Conan is on Turner Broadcasting System (TBS), because it really legitimizes what we do for our shows,"said Velasquez, G4TV, talent executive. "To have a big name like that coming to cable, we welcome a big name like that on TBS.,” “It puts a spotlight on all of us."
“G4-TV is a little bit more new than E! Entertainment E! has a larger reach, but we are growing very fast,” said Velasquez. “G4 was created in 2002 and merged with Tech TV in 2004, a show about computers, and Attack of the Show came from them. It was originally called,” Screen Savers”, a show about how to fix your computer or the latest technology.”
“We do movie reviews and even though we don’t do too much on 'Twilight,' because it seems more female, it is a movie that is all over and one you have to recognize. Although, many of our viewers said they were not big fans of 'Twilight', they admit it was one of the biggest movies that they recognized.”
“We have a cold open, and we also do some bits on movies, too”, said Siobhan Schanda. Chelsea and our team of writers on ‘Roundtable’ have become well known for the bits they do as well. Their parodies of different things”
“G-4-TV’s core audience is male, most Internet users and people who are seeking information and use the latest technology,” said Velasquez. “They actually tune into our show, because we try to stay as hip and as current as possible. They use our show to find out new things.
“There are also people who watch movies within the first two weeks of release. They are the ones who watched our special on the iPad last week, because we cover that technology,” he said. “Sometimes we run exclusive trailers on movies coming out, and I have to make sure they’re not on the web a week or two beforehand, because our fans are smart enough to know where to look for trailers on the web. We usually play our trailers about he same time as the web.”
How to pitch clients
“I love getting email pitches, and something in writing so I have time to look at it,” said Schanda. “A follow up phone is great, because we all know how many emails we get. It’s not a matter of not responding or not wanting to, but we just get caught up in taping the show, so by the end of the day we may not get to all the emails. I love to hear people’s voices. If we are not interested in your pitch, we will get back to you and let you know as I don’t want to waste your time, or string you along.”
Schanda added, “send video links and as much information as possible. It just helps us in pitching your client or project.”
Chelsea Lately works several weeks in advance and has only one interview spot per show. “So I encourage people to reach out as soon as possible,” she said. “It’s never too soon to get something on our radar.” To reach Siobhan Schanda email: sschanda@comcastnets.com.
“I would say the same thing that email is the best way to pitch us,” said Velasquez of G4TV. “I try to get back to everyone, and if we don’t, it is because I am getting so many emails or we might be waiting for someone down the line, who is a perfect fit for our demo (demographics). If you know our demo, it always helps with the pitch. I try to get the best angle possible to make it work. I have no problem explaining why we can’t use your pitch if publicists don’t take it too badly. I only have four slots to fill and I like to book a couple of weeks in advance.” To reach Nando velasquez email: nvelasquez@comcastnetworks.com.
